Designing the commission

We are great fans of recycling clothes and creating something new from fabric that is no longer useful in its present form. We also love helping people catch memories holding them in a new piece of art. So, when someone visited us at an Art Trail and said "have you ever made a quilt out of rugby shirts?" we said "no, but we are happy to give it a try." It was a considerable challenge as there was not just one type of fabric, and we wanted to tie all the shapes together into a united whole, but the person who commissioned it was delighted with the outcome. Here's how we made it happen.
